Lindahl
The combination of The Phantom, Hero, Devil, a vivid sunset, and a talented artist was just barely enough to see Hans Lindahl's cover put Sy Barry into second place. The design was internationally popular, receiving votes from Phans in Australia, India, Sweden, USA, Brazil and Singapore.

Nr.19
Barry
Sy Barry's first ever painted cover for a Phantom comic was destined to compete for top honours in this poll. With 33 years of experience on The Phantom newspaper strips, Sy Barry is perhaps the best known of all Phantom artists. This painting was originally done for Friends of The Phantom and featured as a special trading card in Newsletter #17 (Winter 1998). The exciting action scene painted in oils, was inspired by Billy Zane's portrayal on the big screen.

Daylight separated the top two places from third. However, it came as no surprise to see that Hans Lindahl made another appearance with his cover for Nr.23 finishing equal 3rd with Rolf Gohs' Nr.11. Rolf Gohs is an integral part of Fantomen having been a regular cover artist since the 1960s.
