Best Fantomen Cover 2002

The winner of a limited edition print of The Phantom by Antonio Lemos, courtesy of 99.94 Editions, is Mehul Shah.

Voting for the Best Fantomen Cover 2002 was a two horse race and they finished even. First place was shared between Paul Ryan & Tom Smith's Nr.15 and Hans Lindahl's Nr.17. Two common themes running through the comments from voters was that it was difficult to chose the best from such a wide range of excellent covers, and ... why don't Frew use these covers?

Paul Ryan backed up his successful story The Long Bow of Little John with an equally popular cover, with great colouring by Tom Smith. Hans Lindahl was given plenty of cover art duty in 2002, and it came as no surprise that this cover polled so well. One voter described it very nicely:
"Hasse Lindahl finds power in focusing in black and yellow and red, shades from cave torches. His dramatic lighting and composition from the bright upper left corner to the dark lower right brings the Phantom's serious visage into an effective focal area ... nice drawing, nice painting and good design."
